SDR SPORTING REGULATIONS & RULES SUMMARY: LMP3 / GT4 CHALLENGE
Welcome to the SDR LMP3 / GT4 Sportscar Challenge! Multiclass competition demands elevated spatial awareness, patience, and strict adherence to sporting conduct. All drivers must understand and abide by these rules. Ignorance of regulations is not an acceptable defense. Full regulations are available at: https://sausagedodgersracing.com/rules
1. MULTICLASS STARTS & PACING
-
Multiclass Formation Gap: The lead car of the trailing GT4 class is solely responsible for establishing and maintaining a minimum 10-second gap behind the LMP3 field during the formation lap. This spacing must be held strictly until the green flag drops—do not aggressively close the gap before the start.
-
Safety Car Pacing: Maintain a steady pace with a maximum interval of 1.5 seconds to the car ahead. The overall lead car behind the safety car must not exceed 50 mph (80 km/h).
-
No Jump Starts: React strictly to the green flag, never to the car ahead. Pulling out of line, accelerating early, or overlapping prior to crossing the start line under green is strictly prohibited and penalized.
2. MULTICLASS TRAFFIC & OVERTAKING
-
The Overlap Rule: To earn cornering room, an attacking car must have their front axle fully alongside the defending car’s rear axle prior to the defender’s initial turn-in point.
-
Racing Room: When an overlap is achieved, both drivers must guarantee at least one full car width through the entire corner.
-
Blue Flags & Lapping Etiquette: Faster LMP3 prototypes must execute passes cleanly without dive-bombing from unrealistic distances or squeezing cars off the road. GT4 machinery must remain completely predictable, hold their racing line, avoid erratic moves, and lift slightly on straights to assist the pass safely. Defending under blue flag conditions is illegal.
-
Defending in Class: Single-class battles allow only ONE defensive move off the line, and ONE return move, made well before the braking zone. Reactionary blocking and moving under braking are strictly banned.
3. INCIDENTS, REJOINS & SAFETY FLAGS
-
Accountability: If you cause contact or gain an unfair advantage, you must surrender the position immediately. The following car carries 100% responsibility for avoiding rear-end collisions in braking zones.
-
Hold Your Brakes: If you spin or come to a halt on or near the circuit, HOLD YOUR BRAKES down completely until all oncoming traffic has passed. Never roll across the tarmac.
-
Rejoining the Track: Active track traffic holds 100% right of way. Check mirrors and your relative box, re-entering only when completely clear at a shallow 10–15° angle parallel to the track. Severely compromised cars must tow.
-
Yellow Flags & Hazards: Drivers must lift, reduce speed, and prepare for evasive action through yellow zones. Overtaking under yellow conditions is prohibited. Failing to slow appropriately carries up to a 2 License Point penalty.
4. SPLIT OPEN QUALIFYING PROCEDURES
-
Class Track Windows: Multi-class open qualifying is strictly divided into dedicated 15-minute class windows.
-
Pit Lane Discipline: Drivers waiting for their session must remain inside their pit box until their class time officially opens.
-
Laps in Progress: Any flying lap initiated after your class’s window has expired must be aborted, or you will face a pit lane start penalty.
-
Impeding: Do not block or impede drivers on flying attempts. Drivers on active timed laps are not required to yield, but out-laps must be managed cleanly.
5. PROTEST SUBMISSIONS (WEBSITE EXCLUSIVE)
-
Website Incident Desk: Discord protest channels and ticket bots are fully retired. All incident reviews must be filed via the portal:
https://sausagedodgersracing.com/protests
-
Deadline: Protests must be entered within 24 hours of race start.
-
Filing Requirements: Must provide session info, lap number, multiple clear video replay angles, and an objective statement. Each incident requires an individual submission (maximum 5 active tickets per driver).
6. PENALTY MATRIX & GLOBAL LICENSE POINTS
-
SimGrid Time Ladders: In-race time penalties are applied in 5s / 10s / 20s brackets.
-
Unified Profile Tracking: License points (LP) attach to your global SDR driver profile and carry across all SDR championships.
-
1 LP: Weaving, reactive lane changes, dive-bombs forcing evasive action.
-
2 LP: Moving under braking contact, blue flag obstruction, failing to hold brakes after a spin, failing to slow under yellow flags.
-
3 LP: Avoidable collisions / reckless punts, unsafe rejoins causing contact, brake checking, yellow-flag collisions.
7. BANS & REHABILITATION
-
6 License Points: Reaching 6 points triggers an immediate Qualifying Ban for your next scheduled SDR round and a -10 championship point deduction.
-
Serving the Ban: You must remain stationary in pit lane for the full duration of qualifying. Setting a lap triggers an instant race DSQ. Starting from the pit lane clears 6 active points.
-
Good Behavior Clean-Up: Consecutive rounds of clean, incident-free racing qualify drivers for proactive point deductions reviewed by Race Control.
-
Zero Tolerance: Intentional crashing, retaliatory wrecking, or comms/chat abuse will trigger immediate disqualification, event bans, or removal from the server.
